5000 years ago : the origins of Morta
5000 years ago...
In the Bronze Age, a beautiful oak forest dominated where today's marshlands lie. The trees, nearing the end of their lives after many storms, fell down and were literally swallowed up by the peat soil. Imprisoned in this natural sarcophagus, lacking air and oxygen, the trunks became filled with silica and were kept beautifully preserved. This extraordinary wood, which has survived through the ages, is called Morta.
We extract the oak ourselves from the Brière marshlands, where it is in the stages of fossilisation - the Morta knives were named after this wood.
We make the Morta knives from rigorously selected materials. This is why we guarantee them for life.
